about the course
Recently there has been an increase in emphasis both on a policy and research front relating to the importance of the early years of a child’s life and the necessity for early intervention in order to prevent problems later.
This is a welcome support to those who have worked in early years and acutely understand the impact that the world around a child can have on their development, making them either more resilient and healthy or more fragile throughout their life. We can use this research now, to enhance and endorse our practice and raise the importance and status of early years work.
During the first few years of life, children experience the world in a more complete way than children of any other age. The brain takes in the external world through its system of sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. This means that infant social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language development are stimulated during multisensory experiences. Infants and toddlers need the opportunity to participate in a world filled with stimulating sights, sounds and people.
This two day course raises the awareness and understanding of these issues, and in a practical way, empowers workers to ensure that children and families that they are working with receive the understanding, skills and empowerment they need to deal with their journey through life.
